Description

NGC 7380 a.k.a. Wizard Nebula ( starless version )
......................................................
Discovered in 1787 by Caroline Herschel, the Wizard Nebula is an interstellar cloud of gas and dust that surrounds an open star cluster and is more than 7,000 light-years away from us, in the constellation Cepheus. It is considered that most of the stars in that area are stars born relatively recently (about 5 million years!) from the dust cloud that stretches over 100 light-years in length, the cloud whose current shape gave this name to this emission nebula.
As a personal mention, I can't find any resemblance between this nebula and a wizard, but I will continue to use the name under which it is known.
